Fuerstenberg Fellowship

Award overview

The Fuerstenberg Fellowship awards scholarships of $1,500-$5,000 to in-residence Jewish University of Chicago doctoral students with a record of academic excellence, Jewish community involvement, and studies/research in a variety of areas of Jewish studies, broadly defined.  Historically recipients are students who demonstrate financial need.  The number and amount of awards varies depending on a variety of factors including endowment income.

 

Application:

  1. one-page statement about program of study/academic interests*;
  2. one-page statement of involvement with Jewish cultural, religious, community activities (past or present);
  3. brief financial summary including
    1. total indebtedness for academic study
    2. sources of income for 09-10 (fellowship, job, partner income, family, etc.)
    3. number of persons in household
  4. at least one (preferably two) letter of recommendation from a faculty member.
