Fuerstenberg Fellowship
Award overview
The Fuerstenberg Fellowship awards scholarships of $1,500-$5,000 to in-residence Jewish University of Chicago doctoral students with a record of academic excellence, Jewish community involvement, and studies/research in a variety of areas of Jewish studies, broadly defined. Historically recipients are students who demonstrate financial need. The number and amount of awards varies depending on a variety of factors including endowment income.
Application:
- one-page statement about program of study/academic interests*;
- one-page statement of involvement with Jewish cultural, religious, community activities (past or present);
- brief financial summary including
- total indebtedness for academic study
- sources of income for 09-10 (fellowship, job, partner income, family, etc.)
- number of persons in household
- at least one (preferably two) letter of recommendation from a faculty member.
* Note: Current and/or previous recipients should mention how Fuerstenberg funds have contributed to progress toward project.
