Swinging 30s Extravaganza!

October 5, 2007

8:00 p.m.-12:00 a.m.

International House (1414 E. 59th St.)

Party like it's 1932

Join fellow graduate and professional school revelers for the party of the year! The 3rd annual Graduate and Professional Student Mixer not only kicks off 07-08 in style, but also marks the 75th anniversary of I-House. What better way to celebrate the occasion than to turn back the clock for a glittering night inspired by the Swinging 30s: FDR was in office, the Golden Age of Hollywood provided distraction from the Great Depression, and Duke Ellington insisted that "It Don't Mean a Thing if It Ain't Got that Swing!"

The event will feature food, libations, swing dancing lessons , a Big Band , karaoke, gaming, and one of Chicago's hottest spinners, DJ Zebo . There will be big prizes for best costumes of the night so come, if you wish, dressed as your favorite 1930s personality--Albert Einstein, Greta Garbo, Joe DiMaggio, Dorothy from "The Wizard of Oz", the Lone Ranger....(etc.).

Students must show UCID to enter and an ID With proof of age to drink alcohol. Interested in volunteering for a shift at the event, or need special accommodation? Contact Brooke Noonan brookec@uchicago.edu or 773.407.7941.

See you at the big bash at I-House on October 5!
